I'm looking at the predator and the z400. I'm about 6'1" 220 Like to ride Dunes and trails and with the kids. Then I use it for Hunting too. Did you like the predator stock or does it need to be upgraded right away? The predator is the most I can spend There is $400 between the two in price here. Thanks for any Input

this is just my idea but, the pred or the z400 are realy not quads to use for hunting or fishing. i've got a scrambler 500 and sometime at the ''chalet'' i have few regrets. if you want to use your quad at a big % for hunting... you should aim at a sportsman.
on a sport quad you don't even have enough room for a gun rack or to stock a fishing rod.
this was just my opinion
good luck

I would have to agree with scram on that one, if you want to hunt or fish with a quad, I wouldn't go with a sport one. It will get you there, but they don't come with racks to carry your stuff. The greatest thing about the Predator is that it's already modded from the factory, with typically aftermarket a-arms (which most people mod on their sport atv's) fully adjustable rear shock, steel braided brake lines and fantastic - rebuildable front shocks. The people that I know that have the Z's are buying these parts that I just listed aftermarket. So bang for you buck, it's the Predator, not to mention it's a lot faster!!

I have a Sportsman 700 Twin that I use for hunting and fishing. I can get pretty much everything I need on the racks, and I have a lot of rack space on the 700 Twin. I couldn't imagine trying to get that equipement on a sport quad of any kind. You can still jump with the 700 Twin, I 've done it several times. You just need to be a little more careful when jumping a 740lbs ATV. I would think, and correct me if I'm wrong sport quad owners, but the sport quad would be rough riding through the woods when hunting.

BADAZZPRED - Not "Technically" aftermarket, but it you look at them, they look like the same setup as the "Roll Design" system, with the kick out on the bottom a-arm. If you look at other quads, the stocks are nothing like that with the kick out on the bottom.

90% of what I will use it for is sport dunes and trails ridding. All I need is a place to put a gun or a bow and the rest is in a backpack. Thats way I've always had a SportQuads. I've never bought a new bike before. The reverse is the biggest thing I can't decide on. The only time I really need it is when I was breaking trail through deep snow. ( I Thank God I had the trailblazer on that trip)

Yep...I've hunted on a sport quad too (it was a warrior). Just put a gun rack on the handlebars, and you are set.
I think, after riding with Z400's, that they're a great bike. They stay pretty even with the Raptors, and pull away from a 400ex in the dunes. Haven't ridden with any predators yet, but I have a buddy who test-rode one and said that they felt pretty akward (he owns a cannibal and a 400ex...so those were his comparison). I have sat on (not ridden) a Predator, and to me it feels a little big, and I'm 5'11". The Z400 has the same footprint, height, width as the 400ex, and if you trail-ride your 400ex, you know that it is very manueverable in the tight places. If having reverse is important to you, get the Suzuki, or Kawasaki. Oh, and the Z-400 bolt pattern for your wheels is the same, so you could take your paddle tires from the 400ex and put them on the Z400. That could save you some money as well. If you get a chance check out my club website. If you ever want to go riding with a larger group, it's a good way to meet new people from Oregon/Washington that ride quads.
