Predator CDI box
#1
For those of you with Tach's on your Predators. How high is the max rpm your seeing?
Max rpm is suppose to be 9005 rpm
Ignition timing changes on this bike from 8 degree's till 2000 rpm, then gradually up to 22 at 3000 rpm, 30 at 3500 rpm it then stays at 30 degree's until 8500 rpm's it then start's to drop back down again and by 9000 rpm it at 20 degree's.
Max being once again 9005 rpm
But the most I'm seeing on mine is about 8600-8700rpm.
I'm pretty sure my tach is accurate I used in on my Honda for 18 hrs and it worked perfectly on it.
Perhaps there is a flaw with my CDI box and it's two step fixed timing system and it's preventing my bike from fully reving out?
If there is a problem with my CDI then that might explain why my bike doesn't start as well (as easy) "as I think it should" when the engine is warm cause perhaps the timing is off? OR Maybe I'm just use to my old Honda on that one.
Please responed if you have a tach hooked up and tell me what your seeing.
Snarfblat- I don't know if your still around but I think you have one installed?
The service manual also goes on to say that the DC/CDI systems and components are not interchangeable with any other system.

G'day pleasure, firstly thanks for the great tips on wheelies. I'm trying them today! In the pro shop rev limiter cut in @ 8850 rpm. There's some stuff on Rath's message board that may interest you. Thanks from down under. Geoff.
