I happened to be looking on page 43 of the May 2000 issue of Dirtwheels today. I was looking at the Trailblazer in the picture at the top when I noticed something i didn't see before. It's some sort of black plastic piece beneath the front fenders. When I saw it I quickly recalled a statement in the shootout. It says there on the same page that it is fan assisted. Then I began to wonder if that piece is the fan.

I thought the statement was bogus since the two 2000 quads I looked at didn't have it. I went to the Polaris web site and saw the same piece on the TB in their pic too. Now I'm wondering if the quads I looked at are actually '99 models that they are trying to sell as '00 models.

??????????????

The ATV magazines are very bad at proof reading in my opinion. You are right, they claim the Trail Blazer has a fan assisted cooling system. I own a 2000 and it is not fan assited. They were probably looking at the Trail Boss specs, as it is fan assisted.

The plastic you looked at is part of the PVT vent system.

I also have 2 00' Trailblazers. No fan. I'm thinking it is a mistake.

Lurch77,

Are you talking about that piece just behind the front tire? It goes up at an angle leaning towards the front and has a circular piece on top.

If this is a PVT piece, I didn't notice it before. What does it do?

Duster,

That is the air intake for the PVT cooling system. As usual, the "left coast magazines" have got it wrong again. It kind of makes you wonder if they even ride the machines they test.

I thought reviews were for future buyers.I read a whole review in ATV Magazine and they did not mention once it had selectable 2wd and 4wd .now that is something worth saying somewhere in a reveiw about the bike.

No, just the Scrambler line has selectable 4wd. The Trail Blazer is only a 2wd machine.

As to Lurch77, "The ATV magazines are very bad at proof reading in my opinion" I also agree. I have read several times that the scramblers have aluminum bumpers, rims and floor boards.......They do NOT. Its sad cause these guys are around quads constantly. GJ

I have a 2000 TB and I have yet to notice a fan on it although this would be a nice add on. Do they make one for the TB if so does anybody have one?

Thats surprising because my dealer sold me a 2000 Scram400 and told me those parts were aluminum...but he had to argue with his sales guy! They were not sure? I think they are aluminum though...they dinged up pretty easily already...
