loose chain ... again
#1
The chain on my Y2K Trailboss is loose again after 1 ride. I tightened it down as it said in the manual, I couldn't get the bolts any tighter.
It rubs against the chainguard also, i can hear everytime the master link goes by because it makes a banging noise. The inside of the chain is shiny from rubbig.
Any one know what I can do??

As far as the master link goes, I would think it would be better for it to be installed so that the clip is toward the inside of the bike. That way when you go in reverse there is no chance of the clip catching on the chain giude and getting poped off. Mine was toward the outside from the dealer so I switched it around. Alos make sure your chain guide isnt bent. If its not bent then check to see if your sprockets are in line with each other using a straight edge. Check if the rear end has play in it some where. Good luck. GJ

I did bring it back, twice. The warranty extpired about a month ago bit I'm going to bring it back again.
They said its normal for it to rub alittle and chains come loose "sometimes". Thats the normal excuse for every problem.

the chain is BANGING on WHAT? I didn't know the chain is suppose to be so tight that it will bang.. Try using the old Polaris method, loosen all bolts, have somebody about your weight sit on the rear rack, tighten the chain till the chain has very little slack in it at that point, lock it down, then remove the rack weight.. see how it loooks after that.. It should have some slack in it at all times.. if not, you are stretching the chain....
