Is a sp 700 twin even feasible? Would they have to tone it down because it would rip apart a normal quad frame? Does a 700 twin put out between 130- 150 hp?

Polaris has an 800cc Twin that is "rumored to have 130-135 HP and close to 100 ft/lbs. of TQ" (according to Supertrax). I doubt that Polaris would ever put this motor on an ATV, even if they could get it to fit inside the frame. Maybe you could order a whole engine and make it work, but I would bet that it would be pretty hard to do. Later,

The reason I will not beleive this stuff about such a powerfull motor going into a sportsman frame, is because Polaris is too smart for that. The liability for the quad will kill them. I mean, 800-900lbs quads putting out as much horspower as some new cars, no way they would do that. Polaris' attorney's will not let them make that mistake.

Feasible, yes it is feasible, practicality is a matter of designed usage. I can see where a 700 tmin would fit a SP frame with no problems, there would also not be significant change in weight. I don't see Polaris being concerned about liability, the consumer should know upon buying a machine what it is capable of. Does Ferrari get worried when they come out with a new 200 mph roadster? What exactly are you to be worried about? I give Polaris credit if they come out with the absolute king of all kings. I cannot compare the ride of the SP to anything else, I meaN ANYTHING. They improve the performance with an engine change and thats what I call the real deal, the whole package.

I think Polaris should be concerned about liability. The customer should know what they are buying. But look back to the 80's. People should have known what they were getting when they bought 3 wheelers. Then after people kept getting killed, the public and the Governments turned on the ATV makers. I would hate to see that happen again.

Well, you can all forget the 700 or 800cc two stroke twins as far as quads go from Polaris. IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN! Polaris would first of all NEVER put a high performance motor in a utility chassis like the Sportsman.

Second, even if they did the motor would be so de-tuned and the quad so heavy that it would make their Diesel quad look sporty.

Third, after seeing what the've produced in the past two years (under powered/over weight, non sporty garbage), I find it laughable to even think that they'd produce something that has the kind of power you guys are talking about here.

Finally, If they are going to come out with a big bore Sportsman, look for something along the line of their Victory motorcycle. A FOUR stroke twin whose weight will negate any performance gains. So don't sell your Sportsman 500s yet!
