2004 Polaris

Check out the new 2004 sportsmans. Does anyone now if the instrument panel has digital speedo, clock, gas gauge on it? The new grille insert and new fender flares look great. Sorry on red or black/silvers for 700s. Only Mossy Oak, yellow/black, blue/silver. They say all models will now be available in Mossy Oak.

Was the 700 always 740 lbs dry?? WOW! Did that new grill add weigh to it? I knew they were heavy, but shesshhh. Also, that dump onthe ATP seems pretty small. What could you put in that dump that weighs 400 lbs? Great idea though! Here's the [web site]http://polarisindustries.com[/L]

740lbs dry!!! LMAO!!! I think that Polaris is making Sportsman components out of lead!!! None of the Japanese big-bore quads (Rincon, Prairie 650, Grizzly 660) are even close to that heavy. I believe all those machines are 606lbs MAX!

The sportsman 700 has always had a dry weight of 740lbs. The Sportsman is heavy because Polaris doesn't use any aluminum like the other manufactorers do. The tires and rims on the 700 are also a lot heavier then the other Japanese 4-wheelers. The Japanese go by a standard that a quad shouldn't weigh over 606lbs. Polaris doesn't follow this.

My buddy talks about my SP700 and calls it a pig. He rear-ended me on the trail a few months ago. It bent and collasped his front bumper... I was concerned about my possible damage so I got off to check it out. His P650 did not even knock the powder coat off the rear rack support... not even a scratch. I think he learned a lesson - Don't run into pigs.

Why do all these woosies make a big deal about 140 lbs of weight, Hell I keep a couple hundred pounds of mud on my 700 all the time anyway. After seeing the 2004 models, I am glad I have the 03 700. I guess it might grow on you, but my first reaction was not impressed, I don't see any real improvements.
