Noise from SP700. Please reply
#1
Hey guys. I have a small problem and any information would be greatly appreciated. I changed my air filter this weekend to a K&N. After riding letting the motor warmed up I rode around for a while. I then began to notice a hissing, sucking noise coming from the area directly behind the gear shifter on the right side. I thought that it may be the heat shield on the exhaust rattling. Others had asked me that also so I tightened the screw on all the head shields and no luck. I changed the oil in my atv last night. After finished, I let the motor run to check for leaks from the plug and the filter. Then while pressing the throttle lightly I began to hear that noise again and it also makes that noise when I hold don't the throttle and let go. It sound like the motor is starving for air.
thanks for all the replying in advance.

The clear carb vent hose could be partially obstructed, mine got under the piece of foam between the gas tank and seat and was sucking the foam up in it but when this happend my 700 would barely run at all. If it was partially obstructed you could probably hear it.

v8s10,
I check that hose last night to make sure that is not crimped. I could still hear the noise with the seat off. It is definately coming from somewhere behind the gear shifter and under the handlebars on the right side. I still don't have a clue. Its more a rattling vibrating hissing noise. Anyone with any ideas?
thanks.
