Default 02 Scrambler 500 problem

Well my brother bought his scram about a month ago. Last week he took it out and it started to make a whinning sound. Its a loud pitched whin that happens when you drive it..the more throttle, the louder it goes. I took the belt cover off, looked at the belt, no problems, but it sounds like its coming from that area. SO i took it to the dealer where we bought it, and they called today and said they cant find anything wrong iwth it! I mean really..its making this hiddious noise, but they dont know whats wrong with it? they said to just drive it and note when its doing it and bring it back in if it gets worse! WTF? it does it EVERYTIME you drive it! SOOO..any ideas? Maybe bring it to another dealer? Its an idea, but its about 2hrs away!
I know one thing..if we take it back and something goes wrong with the bike..they BEST cover it..as its prob their mess up!

My '01 scrambler 500 4x4 made the same noise-it is just the transmission. I have been told it is a normal sound that usually occurs when you run your transmission low on oil but I never did that and it still made noise. I think it should be fine as long it doesn't progress from a high pitched whine to a growling noise. Then you have problems. I rode mine like that for a year and a half and never had a problem

It sounds like you are refering to the 'belt' whining.

this is normal

Although it sholdnt be too loud.

When I ride my Raptor next to someone else who is riding my Scrambler,,,I can hear the whine.

Yes actually I was going to add that it could be belt noise too but my computer packed it in first and I forgot about it. I wouldn't worry about the noise eitheir way though.

Did you try wiggling the PVT cover to see if the sound changes? I've seen it before where the primary clutch will just barely touch the cover so when you hit the throttle, it increased in pitch. The machine was a 400 Sportman that burned up a belt and caused the case to warp slightly from the heat generated. We just shimmed out the back cover where it connects to the frame and that took care of it.
