Will I need wheel spacers w/26" Mudlites on Sportsman 500
#1
I have a 2001 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO and am wanting to get some 26" ITP Mudlites on some ITP C-Series wheels. My question is will I need to put spacers on front end, front tires are going to be 26x10x12. Thanks for your replies

If your putting them on stock rims, most likely. But if you get a tire wheel package, you should be allright. I have 26/10/12 Mudbugs on ITP Magnum wheels with no spacers.

I just put 28/10/12 Mud lites on the front of my 02 SP700. I had to put spacers on to safely clear the tierods. Highlifter guy told me that you usually need spacers anytime the width goes past 9.5 inches. I guess the older graphite ones have had some failures, so go with the billet aluminum. I went with 1" and it is plenty in the front, didn't need anything in the back with 28/12/12s. I might eventually buy 1.5 inch spacers for the front and put the 1" spacers in the back to make it all wider for ruts, but for now I was just concerned about clearing the tierods in the front. Oh, and thats on my stock wheels. If you go with aftermarket wheels just make sure you know what offset you're getting. No sense going with a stock offset and still needing spacers.

Well I just got a price on my kit see if this sounds good, $500.00 w/ free shipping for ITP C-Series on some 25" Mudlites. I think im going to just go with the 25"ers and save the money on wheel and spring spacers. Is this a good price?

c-series are sweet! I haven't seen where the offset is listed anywwhere on the website where I buy my stuff, I would make sure you know if it changes the offset, like I said before. I almost bought c-series to avoid buying spacers and to be able to keep stock tires on stock wheels for plowing. I coulndt justify spending the money yet because I still need to put a winch on the wifes 500ho.

i have 26x10x12 mudbugs on stock wheels, all that you need is a couple of washers on the studs and they will clear the tie rod ends but you might find that the fenders rub a little when you hit big bumps..i just put some spacers on the springs and it worked great

without the spacers my 28/10/12 Mud Lites "cleared" the tierods, but it was too close for comfort.

I'm putting itp 26" c-seris wheels and 26" mud lites 10x12 front 12x12 rear on a 400 explorer 2001. Will this be ok or do I need any spacers? Does anybody think that 26" size is to big and will this cause any loss of power?

For the 10" wide tire in the front you should need spacers, however it seems that the aftermarket wheels are available with an offset so you don't need the spacers. So just make sure your new wheels have more offset than stock. as far as the 26" tire robbing power, I wouldn't worry about it. My 28s are noticeable, but certainly don't dog it out. I have plenty of power to spare. Yours probably came with 25s, right? You'll be so happy about the improved traction you won't notice a miniscule power loss.

Just borrow a friend of a friends ITP C Series 12x7 with a 25x10x12 Mudlite. I put it on the front end of my Sportsman 500 and compared it to the OEM tire and wheel on opposite side. I did not notice any difference in tire rod clearance between the 2 so I am assuming that the ITP wheel has offset to make up for clearance with wider tire. Anyone else observed this?
I think I am now going to go for the 26" Mudlites, I think I am correct in saying it will only take away 1/2" fender clearance than the 25" and I don't have any issues with 25" OEM tires and I think I will only have minimual rubbing problems.
The difference in lug depth is definately pulling me toward the 26", just wish they had a 25" with the deeper lugs.....
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
