Default Sportsman without Racks ??

hi all,
I think that i might have totaled my sportsman 500.

If i buy another Sportsman, can The racks be taken off ???

I like the look of a striped down bike, like the scrambler, but I also
want to be able to have the racks, passanger pegs, and the back seat on for
my beautiful wife, if and when she feels for a nice ride, or a over nite outing.
I love my sportsman, but it would be nice to be able to take off the frount, and
rear cargo racks, for that sporty look.

Sooooooooo, can it be done ?????

BigD500ho,
Just my opinion but I think you've got it made. A wife that wants to go on an atv overnight excursion is awesome!!! As far as the sporty look...Sportsman with your wife and a nice rack...leave it at that!!!
Have fun

bigd500ho, yes the racks will come off. There are 4 torx screws holding them on. I have my front rack and bumper removed from my sportsman. I thought it looked goofy with only the front bumper and no rack so I removed the bumper also for that naked sporty look. The bumper comes off easily, like 6 screws I think.

bigd500ho, sorry no pics It is very simple though, I had my front rack and bumper removed in about 10 minutes. I did loose the use of low beams though cause those lights are mounted to the bumper. The only reason I took my rack and bumper off the front is cause my buddy rolled my sportsman and when it rolled it cracked the rack in half.

I made it so I can remove the rear rack and rack support on my 700, but you can't remove the front rack support. I'll try to post a picture tonight. The only thing I need is some 2 inch rubber grommets to fill the two holes in the rear fenders.

I would also like to know how he mounted the to low beam
lights.
Man thats cool, one rack on the sportsman is plenty, I never did use the front rack.
