Any body that rides can have a ride on the Sport. It is definitely a blast to try and hang on with the stock swingarm Actually the tach is a $30 autozone tach. You can use any car tach that will work on a 4 cylinder 4-cycle. Set it to the 4-cylinder setting, then hook up like you would on a car. Black to ground, red to ignition on, white to the lights, and the green will hook up to the yellow wire with the red stripe coming off the stator. THIS WILL ONLY WORK ON A SINGLE CYLINDER 2-CYCLE ENGINE. If you ever get into places with moisture or the car wash, you need to take clear silicone and cover every hole up, pop the facing off and seal it up, and seal where the wires come out the back. I have been to the car wash lots of times and it doesnt get any condensation inside it. If you dont seal it up it will be toast in no time, and dont get the pressure washer real close to it. Other than that any cheap tach will work and will save you some bucks. Bubba

Thanks for the info Bubba, I am also wondering exactly how you have It mounted. I have a EGT gauge mounted In a bullet shaped mounting pod and trying to think of how I could mount the tach when I get one. Is that a 2" tach.? Thanks

The tach is a 2'' I believe, it might be a 2 & 1/4. I bought the cheapest thing in the store. The sweep is real smoth and it does great. Here's how I mounted it in the plainest terms I used a piece of aluminum, 1/8 inch thick, 3/4 inch wide and just about 3 1/2 inches long. You have the 4 bolts that hold the handlebar mounts on. I drilled the ends of the aluminum and mounted it across the upper 2 bolts. I then drilled a small hole in the middle of it and used the supplied bracket with the tach and a small machine screw to mount it up.The 2 bolt heads actually fit the tach bracket edges and when I tightened it down it snugged up real good. I hope that painted a good enough mental picture. If not let me know and I'll snap a real good close up for you.Bubba

Yes, that sounds good, I figured It was something along those lines by looking at the pic. I will have to figure some other way to do it though because I have lights (Scrambler) that I use often, that are kind of in the way. Besides that my EGT gauge is sitting right between my lights. I will figure something to get the trailtech speedo, EGT, and Tach all on there to look right. It helps that I work in a machine shop . If you don't mind me asking what brand is it and I can try to find a similar one at my local Autozone. I looked a few weeks ago and really didn't see much I liked, but If I have a brand to go by at least maybe I can order on from them. I appreciate It Bubba.

I got the plain small black one at autozone. I was looking at a JC Whitney catalogue a while back and saw several different styles and models. Just make sure is has the selection for 4-cylinder and it is an analogue tach (sweep needle) You'll have it looking like a jet cockpit before long

LOL. Yeah I know too many gauges, but that's like too much information?? I like info. I just wonder why thet didn't put a gauge similar to my Sea-Doo gauge. Hmm let me see, tach, speedo analog and digital, lake temp., trip odometer, maintenance reminders, top speed, average speed, hours, gas, engine temp, trim, uh probably more I don't remember. Anyway, all in one nice little package. Maybe It was because I paid 10 for the Sea-Doo and 5 for the Scrammy? LOL I appreciate the help. Bubba.

LOL. It's not your Sea-Doo here. My race bike doesnt even do that. The Aaen top end pipe makes it's maximum HP at 6250 RPMs. That's what you want it to hold from start to full shift out when you nail the throttle. There are variables that affect that, so checking it would be good.Bubba
