I know you guys have all answered to this topic, but I have found out yet... im tlkn about my friends moded scrammy, against a stock 400ex. Some of his mods are... a Hot Seat 500 speed kit, comes with a pipe, K&N airfilter, clutch kit, and primary spring. he also replaced his stock rims with Hot Seat aluminum rims. this is pretty much all he has for now, but im not sure which machine would win... remember.. its a stock 400ex....

If it is jetted properly for the mods he has it should beat him in a straight line drag but in the tighter trails the 400ex will prevail it is alot nimbler than the Scrammy.

 

Honda likes to build their quads differently. I've compared Foremans and 400EXs... same machines from the same years and they perform very different. I've compared Polaris machines the same way and they were exactly the same. Strange but true.
Most 400EXs I've seen will run almost even with the Scrambler 500 but usually pull away at the very top but not by much. The modded Scrambler should win.

stock my scrambler 500 will run right with my brother in laws 400 ex . just depends who gets the better start .

 

it will be a hell of a close race...

I race my friends stock Scrambler400 2-stroke.... we both weigh about the same...
and I can pull away from him but not by much.... I heard the scram400's are slightly faster than the scram500's....
so a modded 500 should be about equal to a 400EX.... maybe faster???

 

My findings,

Bone stock Scrambler 500 vs. my EX with a slip on and a k&n filter and jet kit...

We took off, I spun quite a bit off of the line (gravel road) he pulled ahead about a quad length, I went through first, and then caught up in 2nd, when I hit 3rd I pulled away hard, probably like 4 lenghts by the end of about a 1/4 mile. Top end was closer than I thought...I'd look back and it didn't look like I was going any faster than him, though I'm thinking it was maybe 1-2mph???

So I'd say a modded Scrammy vs. a stock 400ex would be a good race....wouldn't be suprised if the Scrammy won...only one way to find out though.
