I would go for the 600. Looks like a great machine with real smooth power.

Two totally different machines. The ATP has a solid rear axle. The SP has IRS. From what the dealers around here are telling me, the ATP is not really set up to be a trtail machine. But I don't understand why. I was looking into buying an ATP until I realized it had a solid rear axle.

Cheers,

I am leaning toward the SP600 because of the IRS also.

I can't speak for the ATP, but I do have an 03 sp600,with roughly 300 miles on it. It is very comfortable on the trails and as I also use it for plowing and work it is a powerful machine.

The ATP has peeked my interest....looks like the suspension is quite stiff because it has to be. I'll have a new machine next year...torn between the ATP, Regular Sportsman 500, or Kawie Pairie 650. All very close in price and capabilities. Wondering how many of us would actually haul 400lbs worth of stuff...and don't most of us have trailers for behind the quads for hauling heavier stuff?? I think it would be easier in some regards because you wouldn't have to strap small items down for small trips, just throw it in the bed of the ATP and go. Hmmm, 12 months to decide.

Wow! Tough one. I would say the ATP for farming/work and the Sportsman for trail riding. I think the ATP may be the machine to beat for utility farm work, what with the rear box, storage compartments in the fenders, neat front box, and reciever type hitch. However, being 5 inches longer in wheelbase, it will hang up sooner (but not flip over backwards as easy on steep hills).
I guess it all boils down to what you plan to use it for...
