Default Predator Compression???

Heck with around the world. . . how about around the US

Regular Unleaded is about $2.07 to $2.15 / gallon (Yep, that is 87 - regular.)

Gotta love California.

Any of you want either of our Democratic (Commie) Senator's???

Oh, if that isn't enough the Raptor I bought for my wife cost over $1000 more than most of the rest of the US pays all because we need a crazy Green Sticker?!?

I think the exchange rate for the US Dollar is more favorable than what was said above. I think one US$ gets about 1.79 Aus. $

So, $4 gas would be about $2.25 for US.

Well, look at it this way.. If race gas Hovers around the same price, it wont be long before it'll be cheaper to run it so knowbody will have to ask anymore!? While we're on the subject though, i would like to as a couple of you guys if you run or dont run av-gas and why?.. i know the technicalities but, i used to run it mixed with 92 and it made a niticable difference.
AND>>> but the way i too live in the gray-out state so if you guys could all chip in and buy me a jar of vaseline i'd appriciate it.

PUDLJUMPR is correct, it's 10.8:1, and the recommended fuel is 87 octaine. From what I understand, running a higher octaine can burn out he valves and seals.

G'day DuneMe.

Mate fairdinkum, your right. Our dollar gets .59c to your dollar today,so if I came over there it would cost me about double your price. Hence I paid $13000 otd including the extras for my Pred.

Thanks from down under, Geoff.

Higher octane shouldn't damage anything. It will prevent pre-detonation but, once the spark is lit it will combust the same as regular octane.

Sure is supprising you can run that high of compression with 87 gas.

I think Polaris was very smart to put the high compression piston in right from the factory. If the Raptor and the DS came that way from the factory, they would scream. It is really amazing what the Raptor and the DS will do with just a piston and cams. Definitely something they wouldn't want to ship from the factory (too much power = too much liability.)

Aussie: I hope things are in perspective. (Hope your salary is higher too.)

We are never realizing the potential of the 10.8 to 1 piston, the ramps on the cam are "lazy" which allows both valves to be open at the same time, bleeding off compression. Thats why you can run the low octane fuel with no problem. The new prototype cams for the Predator are making some nice power gains. Everyone thinks the factory maxed this engine out in stock form, not true. Actually they give us a great design platform to work with. The Predator responds well to mods. And race gas requires you to re-jet your carb, then no damage will occur. running 116 with stock jets can cause some problems.

The cams aren't the only thing in the motor, when mods finish, and dyno slips document, I'll post the info.

Get some 300ft and 660ft times and mph. Dyno number's tend to vary alot from one company to another. Great tuning tool, but the difference in gains can be confusing. I plan on taking mine to the "Trailer Park" for a big race this spring. No better way to find out what it's going to do, but race the fastest Raptor's and DS's out there. And you are correct, there is alot more than just the cams, but if everybody wants to think the factory maxed out the Predator trying to keep with other sport bikes, it's ok by me.
