Default Predator reliability and durability...

I am thinking about selling my 400ex and getting a predator. Ive read some pretty good reviews in magazines. A couple different mags reported too big a gap between gears...does this mean I wouldnt have to shift as much? How reliable and durable is the chassis and engine. I have works shocks on my EX because I blew the stockers jumping. Will works shocks from my 400 fit the predator? How much did you guys pay including tax and fees for your predators? Thanks. Also how much maininance is needed to care for this machine? Thanks again.

Well if you can test drive one..i'd suggest it. The suspension on the pred is pretty damn good stock, you may not have to swap your shocks!

The stock gearing is pretty good..i had no compliants about it..but it was a bit too tall for my type of trail riding..REAL slow at times! Plus i went up a couple tire sizes so i geared mine down a bit! So as far as gearing..if you dont like the way its geared..swap out a sprocket and your good!

So far the reliablity of the bike has been good! no major problems!

Like i said, if you can get a chance to ride it..DO IT!

I traded in a 400ex for my Predator and have had no regrets. I got my predator back in late november and haven't had a single problem. Its twice the quad the 400ex is.

I did change the gearing on mine. I put on a 38 thooth rear spocket to give it alittle more bottom end power.

The shocks won't work but thats OK because the FOX shocks that come on the predator are way better then the Works Performance shocks.
