Bill,

Yes, they were made on the Cayuna Iron Range and were put in Scorpion snowmobiles. They are now sold under the 2SI brand name.

Bill,

The motors run around $5,500.00 I'm hoping to find an alternative engine that I could pick up for much less. Some of the guys are using BMW or Moto Guzzi motorcycle engines.

What about the VW bug engine they sawed in half? Forgot the name of the company doing it, but I think they even retro'd it with dual magnetos. Not sure if it put out 50 hp though. Maybe with a few mods and big bore cylinders it could get close.

The CRF450 is a 4-stroke? What is that a Honda motorcycle engine? Does it have a built in transmission?

the CRF450 is the 4-Stroke motocross bike of Honda's. Yes it does have a gearbox. You're looking for an auto so you can mount your gear reduction box right to the shaft, right? Or doesn't the powerchute require a gear reduction?
