Default please help, whats up with OIL change ??

PLEASE HELP
Can some please tell whats the proper steps in changing the oil in 2003 Sp500ho ??
I have the 2003 owner's manaual, but the the oil tank fittings for the lower delivery hose, is complety diffrent on my bike, than it is in the manaual.
the fittings that are showing in the 2003 manaual, are the same ones that where on my 2002 Sp500ho. you are suppose to disconect the host from the fitting, and then take the fitting apart, and clean the fitting screen.

ON MY 2003 that fitting do not come apart, and it is not really
made to put a wrinch on, because the hose conects to the side of the fitting, instead of on the butt end, so a socket can't fit on, and if you tried to put a wrinch on, there would be NO room to turn the wrinch.
So whats up with That ??

also, when you drain the crank case plug, do you lose pump prime ??
how would you re-prime the pump??

Please give the steps for the 2003 only, if you have them or can.

Drain oil. Remove oil fiter. Put oil on "O" ring of new filter, Install. Add oil. Ride.
Ask the dealer about screen in oil line. Maybe spec change.
Use synthetic oil.
You loose prime on oil pump. But the film of oil left in motor protects the momentary dry start up.
If you use fossil base oil, change more often.
Most Polaris 4-stroke motor last around 3500 miles before cams start to go flat.
Use of Synthetic based oils and good filters like Wix, help stop cam wear. Also don't idle for long periods of time. Start up and go at a 1/3 clip or so until total warm up.
Then ride it like you stole it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our '96 425 Mag is going strong at its new owner with 3300 or so miles. Hard to tell, its on the 3ed speedo from el flip O's.
Good Luck

I'm relativly new to wheelin'. I got an '02 Sportsman 400 last summer. My question is why does idleing hurt the cam? I'm not questioning your opionion Prairietwin, I'm just curious as to why.

Low oil pressure at idle can SOMETIMES mean the top end doesn't get adequate lube. This has been a common occurance on several recreational 4-strokes over the years. This is another good reason to always use synthetic oil. It just offers better protection under ALL circumstances.

'95 Sport 400' said just like I would have.

Start um up and ride um! Easy to easy-moderate until warm up. And after every hard ride, I mean hard ride, change the oil, its cheep!
