im not an expert on this subject, but i have had my CV joints off of both my wheelers, and from my knowledge, if you just make sure you dont have tears in your CV boot, and if you have had your CV boot off, be sure your Loaded it with grease, which is usually supplied when you buy the boots, you shudnt need a grease needle, if all is sealed off and no tears in your cv boots, it should be fine, someone corect me if im wrong, and if you do have problems tearing CV boots, do yourself a favor and purchase some Cv boot gaurds, i got the Cycle country ones and am please 110% with them, its a small price to pay trust me, i had to replace a CV joint due to torn cv boots, thats not a fun job, but i guess i dont think you "should" try an dput a grease needle on them, but thats just me and my 2 cents.

Good Luck, Haz!

As hazard said.....theres no need.
There supposed to be 30grams in there
unless you clean the old grease out of the cv itself
then you need to add another 30gms

Not a clue BIG???
All I know is the book says
30gms if replaceing the boot
and another 30 if you contaminated the joint and have to clean it
The book also says not to get in water over the floorboards, yeah okay
Adding more probably wont hurt (or help )anything,
I'm not so sure about putting a hole in the boot to do it.
Why not remove one of the clamps?

I would recommend against it. If you are poking a hole in the boot, it may not seal up completely, letting water in.
The CV joints are meant to be greased for life. The grease used in these things is a special (usually a silicone-based synthetic) grease that is intended to last the life of the joint. As long as the boot doesn't tear, you usually don't need to worry about it.
I have 7400 miles on my Xplorer, and have only re-greased one joint, and that is because the boot tore, so I re-packed it while I had it apart.

hey farmr123, do you by any chance know the amnt of PSI. my 400 xplorer should have, i wanna check theh compression u know just to check on things, cant hurt anything so i wanna do it, but i do not know what the correct amnt of PSI. it should have in it, i know my friend known as "bigbadbrad" on his 94 Polaris 300 2x4 it is suggested to have like 100-120 PSI. but what is it for a 400 engine (xplorer)?

Thanks, Haz!

I think somewhere between 90-110. A 'tight' engine, or one with an aftermarket piston, shaved head, etc. can go higher than that, but if you have 90 + you are OK, and 100+ is good.
If you are into compression checks, the thing to do is check it every once in a while. If it read 110 2 yeas ago, and 105 last year, 103 early this spring, but now suddenly has 90, you are heading for trouble. If it always had around 90-95, and still runs good, a read of 90 is no big deal.
