Default No Camo

Went to buy a camo 700 today and while there saw one that the camo was peeling off. Dealer said that they had seen several 03 like this one with the same problem. I figure that I will be keeping it for 5-6 yrs maybe longer and if the camo is comming off of a few this early, what will happen to a lot of them in several years. With my luck just after the warenty expires the camo will come off and I will be SOL. Has anybody else had this problem and are the 04 to be any better? What do ya'll think about the yellow and black combo (saw a pic and it looks pretty sharp. How do ya'll think a yellow will hold up to scratches, fade ect.

Thanks for any input

I've seen several of the factory camo'd plastics have the peeling problem. Your warranty should cover this problem. After the warranty expires, it will probably be difficult to get the manufacturer to cover it unless you have a great dealer relationship.

In my opinion, other than installation defects, the camo peels off because of harsh cleanings (ie. pressure washing).

I haven't had any problems with my camo peeling off. I stay away from the pressure washer. I asked my dealer about what to do if the camo began to peel off. He told me that if it started to peel off take pictures of it and Polaris will send out a new total body kit (all the panels) He said that since I bought the extended warranty and the new 04s are out and the 800 were coming around sept to oct that I could get a new body kit; trade my 03 in with the new kit on and it would be like trading a new condition 03 except for the miles. I'm really thinking about doing this. He said that you must have the extended warranty if this problem occurs after the factory warranty is up (6 months i think) Just a thought. Yeah if you get a camo stay away from the pressure washer. The New Mossy Oak Camo is sweet. I love it.

forgot to mention. the new yellow and black is a sharp looking quad. about the scratches; not sure. a buddy of mine has the blue and silver. after a weekend of riding thru the swamps and in mud and washing it the scratch were very noticable. It looked like a year old quad. The good thing about the camo it shows no scratches. I have had my quad since jan and I can't see the scratches. The camo hides it very well. another buddy of mine has a prarie 650 camo and his doesn't show scratches either. If you are worried about the scratches go with camo and buying the extended warranty would not hurt. A guy in my hunting club has a 99 500 and his front shocks/struts were wore out. He took his quad up to the dealer to see if they could be new struts on the front. They replaced all of it for $25. Not a bad deal I think. just my $.02

I have a 1999 500 Sportsman RSE and the camo has rubbed off where the seat meets the side panels but i tried scratching some off beisde that and it wasn't even possible. It seems just to come off where there is something rubbing against it alot.

Camo is just a paint job and it depends on who the contractor is how good of a job it is
If it is not done right, off it comes cause it is hard to paint plastic.

I have had no problems with my 03 camo, and I do use power washer but don't put the nozzle real close. Mine seems to be very durable, I peeled all the warning stickers off with a heat gun and the camo didn't budge.

I have had 3 Camo models and no peeling or problems from any of them. Love the fact it doesn't show scratches and still looks like new after 3 years...
