I haven't lost a quad but I did loose one of those small $1,200 dollar yard tractor/mowers a couple of years ago.
I put the mower on the trailer and for some reason I had to go back inside the house and didn't strap it down. I come back outside get in the truck and start down the drive when all of a sudden I hear a big boom and I look in my rear view mirror and see the the little tractor jumping up about 3 feet in the air and then roll over to the side of the drive. I stoped and walked over to the tractor and thought for sure the frame or something would be broke. I couldn't see anything so I put the key in the machine and it started right up. Put it back on the trailer and this time got some straps. That little tractor is still running today.
What amazed me was how high those tractors can jump with no suspension and sustain no damage. Some Quads can't even do that!!!!!

Lol this is way off subject, but I used to jump my 350 rancher too. Now I bought a sportsman.
Also, once we were hauling my dad's snowmobile in the back of his truck. I looked back when we were driving away from town, and I could only see 2 skis coming up from the tailgate. We pulled over to find the 11000$(Canadian) machine dragging it's @$$ on the pavement. Luckily the two skis had somehow gotten stuck in the air vents of the tailgate. With some miracle, it was strong enough to hold it there. Only damage was a 300$ track severed beyond recognition, new rear suspension components (minor stuff) and boogey wheels.

This is kind of off subject too, but I was with a friend one time when he bought a brand new Sea-Doo XP watercraft, the dealership sold him a trailer and everything put the jet-ski on it, forgot to latch the winch in front so It wouldn't unwind, well........ needless to say we were going down the road leaving the dealership.... It made the first few miles, then.....Boom. About 60 mph on a 4 lane highway the jetski comes off and skids on one side of the hull for a few hundred foot. amazingly it only scratched the crap out of it and didn't bust the fiberglass, but boy was he upset.... About a year and a half ago, four of my buddies and I were going out to Cooke City, Montana for a week of snowmobiling over New Years. We had two trucks, one with a two place trailer, and one with a three place trailer. So I'm riding with my buddy pulling the two place which has mine and one of my other buddies' brand new sleds. So were driving up and down the mountains on this squirrly *** road, and as were going down a pretty steep hill we come to a switchback corner, so he taps the brakes, and we hear this big thud from behind us. Stupidly we continue to drive, with the other truck behind us. As we're climbing up the mountain the trailer is bouncing really weird-like. So we pull over to check it out. Turns out the pin for his reciver hitch had somehow worked it's way out. So the only thing holding his trailer, and two brand new $7,000 machines was a pair of $2 chains. So we blocked up the wheels and got another pin and away we went. That would have ruined our vacation to have those sleds fly over the mountain. Incidently I bashed my sled into a tree on New Years day, so I didn't come out quite as good as my buddy, but the sled was still ridable, and is as good as new to this day after $2,300 in repairs, mostly cosmetic. I know it's already been said, but thank God for insurance.
