Which is faster and which is the most fun?

 

From my experience, they are equally fast stock. My buddy bought a 03 Raptor same time I picked up my pred. We broke them in and raced...top end and acceleration were dead equal. Both are equally fun to ride. If you enjoy wheelies, the raptors low tourqe and shorter wheelbase will provide all the wheelies you can handle and then some. It's a little narrow for racing, but a great woods machine and plush suspension for trail riding and some MX. The pred also does great with it's low and wide stance. Super powerslide is the term I like to use. The pred has some more race ready features than the raptor, so if you want to upgrade a lot, the Pred may save you some dough. They are both great quads, the only thing I can say is ride both and pick your preference. The Raptor has reverse which might make a difference, but the pred turns super tight and is easy to throw around if needed, I hardly notice the lack of R. But ride them both and pick one, they are both great quads and a lot of fun to ride. Man I love this sport!!

 

Go sit on both of them. Take them for a spin if they'll let you. Both good choices.

 

Get a Kawa 700 they are faster and jump better than both, just ask the Kawa guys![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Pudlejumper I could not agree more...Well said! Both nice quads, I would give the handling to the Predator, Low end torque Raptor, Plush suspension Raptor, Race suspension Predator. After market goodies already installed NO contest Predator. Both are very fast but go about it different ways, Raptor is a lo-tech V8 Predator is a High Revving high tech V6 both have similar power.

Your friends Raptor must have something wrong with it, say maybe a rag stuffed in the airbox snorkel? My stock Raptor would beat Pudljumpr's Pred off the line and were about the same top-end until he regeared it for more low-end.

If I was going to do any form of racing I would get a Pred, Z-400, or maybe the soon-to-be-released Yamaha 450 racer (name?) But for trails and dunes, Raptor is king.

But hey....my 60hp HPD trail mod Scrambler was fun on the trail too!

raptors flywheel is junk and so is the starter gears be prepaired to spend some dough when those go out

 

Looks like you will be able to make the predator all you want it to be. Stock vs stock the nod goes to predator, piped vs. piped the nod go to raptor. Build the predator and lets find out. The predator is going to be a heck of a quad. There are some changes that i would make to it if i owned one, just like i made changes to my raptor. I do like the front end of the predator. Polaris did a fine job out of the box!!
