Default TRAIL BLAZER 250 NEED HELP!!!

A friend of mine has a trail blazer 250 and wants to know if anyone can help him with this problem. It will start when its cold and run fine until it gets warmed up and then if you turn it off it wont start again until it completely cools down. has anyone had this problem? I heard that it happens to the 250s all the time but nobody seems to know what causes this or knows how to fix it. my friend has changed carbs and the cdi box and the mechanic he has been using is beside himself trying to find out what causes this. So here I am tonight asking you polaris owners for any possible ansewers. thanks for your help.

try a new spark plug, and take a look at the old one. If it has black crud on it, you might be over-rich.

Not all 250's do this. It is an overheating problem. You need to check the jetting and airscrew adjustments. What year is it and did you do a compression check when cold and then when it is hot. You need to get a compression check. It might be time for a rebuild.

Running worse when hot is a sign of being too rich. Like Farmr said, change the plug then check your jetting, choke adjustment, float level and oil pump adjustment. If your silencer is equipped with a clean out plug, it could need cleaning out.

Default TRAIL BLAZER 250 NEED HELP!!!

Its a 2001 trail blazer only has about 30 hours on it. when its running it runs fine, the problem is when you turn it off, it wont start back up again after it has been warmed up. you have to wait till it cools down( about 20 to 30 min.) befor it will start again. if you try to start it while its warm it will not start, it acts as if its not getting any gas or its not getting any spark. the carb has been gone through and its got a new plug. like i said it runs great when its running but as soon as you shut it off it wont start back up again. any other suggestions?
Thanks for all the help.

Will it start using the recoil? Do a compression check. Make sure idle is correct, the choke adjusted correctly. Make sure the kill switch is clean and making good contact inside. Check fuel filter, vent hoses, hole inside lip of gas tank for vent hose (not clogged), float level, dirty or old gas, intake air leak, air filter clean, plug.

I talked to my buddy with the Trail blazer and he said that he has rejetted its got new fuel adjusted the carb to all specifications and even out of spec. to possibly fine tune. he has replaced the plug cleaned the filter, checked the silencer plug, checked the vent hose on the fuel tank and everything else everyone had suggested except compression check which he would like to know what the compressoin should be? He said he has 60 hours on the trail blazer. oh yea, he said that it will start with the recoil.
thanks for the help

Stock compression on a 250 is 130-135psi.

Does it crank properly, and not start, or does it crank over weakly? If you can start it with the recoil, you may have either a bad starter (weak when hot) or, more likely, a bad solenoid (they overheat, too).
