Default YOUR SP700 PROBLEMS?

I do not own one but my sister in law bought a 2002 SP700 that spent more time in the shop than it did on the trails. Problems included lousy gas mileage 25-30 miles per tank, Would not idle right, top end kept dropping off, a real richy smell from the exhaust. Dealer finally took machine back and had to replace with new one. The techs spent time with Polaris techs and could not get it right.
She did not realize how lousy it was running until she got a new one. now she can almost keep up with me, almost on the straight aways.

Polaris financing is another nightmare for her but that is another story

Thanx for reply. I have heard of several '02 models with major problems & hoping to find out if the problems continue with '03-'04 models.

My '02 has been pretty darn good. The waterpump has been the only issue like everyone elses. The idle was simple to fix - just turn the **** on the carb to adust. The smelly rich smelling exhaust on mine was because it was too rich in the low speed circuit - one size smaller pilot jet has fixed that. So far love it. Mileage has also been fine - around 60 miles per tank (give or take depending on driving habits)

The only problem I have had is the leaky water pump. <Knocking on wood>. Polaris financing is another issue all together.
