Default HPD Pipe Coating

Anyone have problems with the black coating on the HPD trail pipe for a 400 Scrambler? I've got my quad torn apart right now for a rebuild. I noticed that the brand new pipe I put on last fall is now very rusted. The OEM pipe I took off (which was about 4 years old) had no rust at the time. It's rusted on the bend where it comes off the cylinder and turns to go to the back. Right behind the R/F wheel. It's a part that you see all the time and it looks really bad. Should I worry about it or just let it go? Is there anything besides high-temp exhaust paint I can put on it? I've been thinking about Jet-Hot coating - it's starting to look like a better idea at $90.

Matt, the aftermarket pipes are a thinner gauge metal and tend to run warmer because of it close towards the front. For a trail bike I usually use the good ole BBQ black paint. Just wipe the pipe down with some carb cleaner or laquer thinner and spray it on. It will bake on in a hurry. The jet coating looks great. I just didnt figure for a trail bike it would matter.
