I have a sportsman 400 2003 that is difficult to shift into low range - or if you do get it into low its hard to get it out of low -any suggestions? Also the connector that goes from the shirter rod to the selector on the engine on my high range - the bolt broke off and my dealer ordered me a new one. When i bought the quad the dealer said that the shifter would be stiff - but i never thought it would break so soon.

 

Your linkage needs adjusted and this should fix it. My brother had the same problem with his. He adjusted it and now its as smooth as silk. also check to make sure there is the proper amount of lubricant in the shifter lever box.

 

I agree with maddoggy, it needs to be adjusted. I'm surprised you broke a bolt, that should of never happen if it was set up correctly in the first place.
