Predator or Z 400
#1
Hello, I am debating on which quad to ride. I have heard both good and some bad things about these quads and wanted your oppinion. I know the Predator has more speed and better steering and the z 400 is comfortable and a overall good quad. Please tell me which one is at the top of the list.

Like it is even a question! Do you want a race ready pure sport quad or a all around trail, sport quad. The z400 is a good quad but you are going back to the honda chasis wich is outdated. Yes it is a little faster than the EX but going back not foreward. The preditor is now. And now is the time to buy one. There are tons of mods comming out for them and it can only get better. Or you can wait till someone comes out with something better. NOT!!!!

ok heres the deal I have a predator and my girlfriend has a z400. They both are excellent machines.the pred is more race orientated and the z400 is more of an all around quad. the 400 is not the slowest or fastest, its not the worst handling or the best its probly the best all around quad you can buy.
the predator In my oppinoin is the best handling quad out there granted it does take a lil gettin used to, but when your used to it you will want no other. This four stroke is the closest thing to a two stroke you can get. It has a fair amount of low end and mid but has an explosive top end power. so there is a lil bit more clutching in the woods. the polaris has awsome suspenion.
don't let people tell you that it doesn't wheely good because that bull. I can wheely it 1st through 5th.
If you want a race quad get the predator if you want an all around quad get the 400 you can't go wrong with either.
I've had mine since the came out and have had absolutly no problem withit.

If you plan on racing, definately the predator, cause it's ready to go!! If you are just a trail rider, then you will have a harder time deciding. They are both pretty good quads, and as others have stated, the Z400's have been showing frame weaknesses near shock mounts and such that you may want to reinforce if you like jumping. But if you are just a trail rider, try one of each and go out and enjoy the scenery!!

I guess it all comes down to what kind of rider you are. Get the Z400 if you want to do all kinds of riding; want a plush, easy going ride, and REVERSE! Get the predator if you want to race. I have the Z and I run all day long with Predators, I can even get some stock ones up some hills. Granted mine is slightly modded (pipe, jetted, filter, re-geared) but all these mods + the cost of the bike is STILL less than a new predator and I have one thing that I love, reverse. It's your call.

Ok..I already replied to this same question posted in the suzuki forum so I won't waste the time reanswering the question, but I need to reply to the idea that the Predator is a race quad. It all depends on what type of racing you want to do. If you want to MX race the Predator will limit you to the open class only. At 500cc it is too big for the 250/440 class which is the most popular, at least in this area. If you have a 400 or 440 you can race a number of different classes. Now I have heard that Polaris is planning on releasing a new kit to bring the Pred to a 440cc to meet race requirements. I have been very impressed with Polaris's attention to the customers needs. The other big corps just leave it up to the aftermarket to pick up the slack. Both quads are sweet...you can't go wrong....
