Default Sticking Throttle

My 2002 TB throttle has become sticking, slow and hard, It also seems to be backfiring which it never did before, is it related? Whats the best way to fix thumb throttle pressure?

You probably need to oil the cable good and take the cover off of the throttle housing. Loosen the jam nut on the cable(under the rubber piece) and adjust the cable until the contacts inside of the throttle housing are held together by the pressure of the throttle cable. Tighten the jam nut and if you done it right it should take care of the problem. Yes it is related the Polaris has an ETC (electronic throttle control) it is a safety device that keeps the throttle from hanging wide open and if not adjusted correctly it can cause alot of problems like backfiring, cutting out, etc. If you have an owners manual it should give you step by step instructions for adjusting it.
