Make your ATV Seaworthy?
#11
We got it to float!
So we finally finished the prototype and got out to the lake. Also, we had to make sure the patent paperwork was submitted prior to showing this to the public and it is in and accepted so I can post the video.
Keep in mind that this is just the prototype and still needs a lot of improvement and some changes to make it better.
Let me know what you guys think!

It floats but moves slow, so it's about what I expected. I wouldn't have any use for it but someone will. Good luck.

That is probably the best system I've seen for converting an ATV to an amphibious vehicle. The only change I would add is if someone makes a plastic angle iron, to add them where the horizontal nylon straps are on the air bags. Might give you more speed in the water but a little less portability.

You guys are correct, it is slow and there are concerns with leaks. We thought that if we would have it manufactured by a real inflatable company and not some engineering students, we would have made the inflatable itself in the shape of a paddle and it would have compartments in it so if it did get punctured, you would be okay. Also, this material is the same stuff they build white water rafts out of so it can take a beating. We are also looking at an auto-inflate/deflate option so if you are going in and out of water a lot you could just leave them on and flip a switch.
