The other winch thread reminded me that I bought one of those 2500lb winches from Harbor Freight about a year ago to mount on one of my trailers. Never even opened the box.. Just wondering if I could slap it on my 03 Polaris 330 Trail Boss. It won't be until spring before I try, the winch is at my Florida home, not here.. Just curious.

 

There used to be a guy on here that put one on a gen 3 scrambler 500. I used to have pics of it. But I know he mounted the winch under the hood. As far as routing goes, I can't remember for sure but he either cut out a spot in the hood for the winch cable or he may have had the fairlead mounted on the front bumper. That part I can't remember for certain. I have seen them mounted inside the front bumper but I would be concerned about cooling on a liquid cooled bike.

 

Well I was rooting around my computer this weekend for another picture and stumbled across these. This isn't a 330 trailboss but the idea would be very similar.

I've had more problems with Warn winches than Harbor Freight ones! I have a HF 4500 on my Arctic Cat diesel, works like a charm. Gets a real workout plowing snow every winter.

 

I have a 2005 Polaris Trail Boss 330. I'm currenting mounting a Harbor Freight Badland ZXR 2500 LB winch on the front using the mounting plate from Harbor Freight and custom fitting it to the frame under the oil cooler. I mocked it up and it appears that it will work. I plan on trimming some of the lower front bumper metal away to make room for the fairlead. I will post some pictures after the install is complete. Info and pictures of a winch on a Trail Boss is hard to find. Hope this helps !
