what is a grey ghost ?

I remember dirtwheels magazine calling the 250x the grey ghost, probably around 1987 or so. But I dont ever remember honda referring to it as that.
It didnt stay grey for long and they changed the plastic to white.

Thats a good point, but I think silver ghost would be more more appropriate for cannons due to the silver frames since I think they sold more red cannibals than anything. Back to the topic does anyone have that copy of dirt wheels from 1987. I need proof. I just talked to a guy last night who bought an 87 new and he never heard of the term.

I will check, I used to have all of my old dirtwheels stored at my parents house. I was looking them over last year and I read a test on the 250x and that is how I remember them calling it the grey ghost. There really was just a little caption below a picture of the quad and it just said something real short and simple and I dont recall ever hearing it again.

You kids make me so mad Im going to get out of my wheelchair and beat you with my cane. Just kidding. The 250x was released in 1987 as a 4 stroke trail quad. It was dropped in 1988 and rereleased in the early 90s. Then modified slightly (stroked ) detuned and electric start was added and it was passed off as a new model in 1993 as the 300ex. Honda refused to spend any money refining or improving it other than changing the color of the plastic and decals which is where the phrase (BOLD NEW GRAPHICS) came from.
