what does running with the air box taken off do? a gain in hp?

With your airbox removed, it allows more air to flow into the carb and with your carb rejetted correctly you will gain hp

don't completely remove the airbox unless u want to ruin ur carb. keep the airbox and air filter on, jus get rid of the air box lid.

probably...but you'll probably end up running a little lean though....as for removing the airbox, I'd only recommend doing that if you mainly rode in the dunes...any other type of riding, I'd leave it intact, except for maybe removing the lid...but you'd have to have a good filter and maybe a pre-filter...

the ideal thing to to (i think) would be to remove the air box lid and buy this airbox lid filter that i've heard of. it's like a pre-filter than velcros onto the top of ur airbox after u take the lid off. then i'd install a K&N air filter with an outerwears pre-filter. with all this u wont have to worry about ur filter at all.
