At the same RPM and displacement 2 strokes burn gas twice as fast as 4 strokes. Gas is where the power comes from, so this is a good thing.

The only downside for 2 strokes is there's hardly any selection. Manufacturers are not developing any new models, for fear they will be outlawed. Snowmobiles and PWC are in the same situation. The blaster and banshee were designed before Microsoft existed. That's how old they are getting.

well also 2strokes have good acceleration... i mean no 4 stroke gonna beat tha unless it's got some very kick@ss mods but it's not jsut about burning gas i mean hell i can get about 10-30 hours on a full tank on my stock warrior but still it's got good acceleration....

a two stroke is what i would get if i was going to get a full on sport quad. then again there isnt any selection as was mentioned, the banshee is the only one and that thing is useless on the trails. the only thing i dont like about them is they dont get close to the amount of traction you will get on a four stroke, but if its power you want you cant beat a 2 stroke. 2 strokes have less moving parts, and you can get more power out of them with just a pipe than a 4 stroke.

that's wierd because bombardier is supposed to be going out of buisiness. I think they already sold off the ATV division.

2 strokes can make more power. but 4 strokes last alot longer
4 strokes are becoming more and more powerful just check out the yfz450
around 40 Hp outta 450cc.. the quadzilla 500 dident make that much..
the more the quad manufacturers develope the faster 4strokes get..
im not hating on 2 strokes i ride them also. but i hate to say it but 4 strokes are prolly the future of the offroad business... with the EPA tightening its squeese on the atv world and all.
it wont be long.

Without going ultra trick and large CC with the new thumpers, the factory quads will not produce much more power than they do right now. Also a 439cc motor pushing 40hp and revving to the moon is not designed to be ultra reliable. You could take an old R or LT with mild mods and be just as reliable if not more. When you buy a "race ready" quad, be prepared for things to wear out because it will happen. I still dont get how you 4 stroke guys think that they are A LOT MORE RELIABLE.

the reason that 4 strokes r considered more reliable is because (from what i've heard) the engines need to be rebuilt every 7-8 yrs, whereas a 2 stroke needs to be rebuilt every 3-4 yrs. again, this is based solely on what i've heard, i haven't had my quad for even a year yet, so don't be suprised if the info is wrong. i've heard that nothing compares to the acceleration of a 2 stroke, once u hit the powerband, ur gone.

I thought the quadzilla put out around 50 ponies. and I thought the yfz put out like 36 ponies. two strokes are as reliable as a person treats them. if a person does the regular maitanence on them they will run good. if someone treats them like $hit the motor will not be reliable for long.
