Default Changing jets in z400

I'm in Santa Clarita, about 5mins from Magic Mountain if you know where that's at. We mostly ride desert, Jawbone/Cal City area, and Dumont. If you ever ride this way let me know, maybe we can hook up......

For sure we gotta hook up and ride. Ive been out that way a few times but not to ride. I plan to check out Dumont sometime soon also. Beaumont is worth the trip for you, consider it if you ever make it down here. Great terrain variety. So, got any other advice on the Z400? I just got it, i belong on 2 wheels, but i like to get on the quad once im tired of taking hard falls on the bike. Still not sure on the whole jetting thing, seems to be a lot of diff opinions on it. I just dont want to put the K&N on it and have it run so lean it burns up. It still has the stock 130 main in it. Thanks

Default Changing jets in z400

I have a kfx 400 and its all piped and jetted but i only put in a 150 jet cause the biggest jet the Dynojet sent me was a 155 and i only put in a 150. so where do i get a bigger jet and am i going to be able to use the same needle i got with the jet kit? does anyone know?

why don't you try the 155 before worrying about getting a bigger jet?
What makes you think you need a bigger jet?
Have you checked the color of your spark plug?
Is your engine popping?
Is your engine stuttering?
Did you appropriately adjust the idle fuel screw yet?

Yes, you can use the needle.

Go to any ATV or snowmobile place and tell them you need a small round headed jet for a Mikuni carb.

it runs mint and everything but i just want as much power as possible cause i love to rip. I just recently changed the spark plug its fine. I was planning on putting the 155 but i figured why not a 180 if other people were doing it

Those other people may have 440 kits and other mods.

If people were jumping their wheelers off a cliff i most likely would too. thanks for the advice i was planning on boring it out and getting alba racing cams when i get my taxes back anyways so i guess i'll be looking into it more then.




KFX 400
fmf powerbomb header, titianium 4, jets, k&n filter, prm skid plate, renthal sprokets, handlebars and chain. hyper carbon fiber rims, and elka front and rear shocks

yeah i took off the airbox lid when i jetted it. I just wanna be smokin the new 450's this summer so thats why i wanted a 180 jet but i'm sure it'll be fast this summer
