installing cam and rejetting
#1
My sons Raptor has a white bros. slip on r4 silencer. We're going to be installing a Stage 1 Hot cam and a Twin air air filter. My questions are how much work is it to install the cam? And how much jetting will I have to change once I put in the air filter? Any help with this project would be appreciated. Thanks

The cam isnt too difficult to install, just make sure you have a manual on hand to lead you through the process. Also remember to change your valve lash. I was running the suggested 8 and 10 thousandths lash, but dropped to 6 and 8 as a result of input on this forum. I was running 170/175 with a full ct pipe and stage 1 cam with K&N prodesign kit and no lid. Hope that gives you some kind of reference.

maddog, how did you adjust your valve lash and did you have to adjust your needle height also when you rejetted? This is fairly new to us and we're trying to do it on our own.

i went up one on the needles and out about a 1/2 turn on my air screws.
you can set valve lash with a set of feeler guages, availible from any auto store for a few bucks. you will want to get one that you can bend, not one of the single discs. The exhaust valves are especially hard to reach.
