i was around during the muscle car era too. in high school i owned a 340 duster and during my last year i had a gt500 with a 427. both cars were quick but did not compare to the svt mustangs. a friend of mine has a svt cobra with the supercharger and with just a few mods and some tunning is running in the 11's then drives it home over 100mile away while listening to his mach460 stereo in the air conditioning. if you sink enough money into the older big block muscle car and lighten it up it can go head to head with the new performance cars but once they put the same amount of money in theirs the muscle cars is playing catch up again. now theres the new srt10 dodge and in the mid 2005 there will be the new lightnings both with over 500hp before mods. technology will always stay ahead. someone mentioned the dodge hemi's ruling the drag strips, the ford thunder bolts stayed right there with them. the new dodge hemi isn't a true hemi. ford also has basicly the head desigm on some of their engines so don't let all the hype make you think dodge has brought back the old hemi which was availible in the 50's in the desotas and was called the fireball i believe. the 426 wasn't until the 60's.

If you want a midsize truck, the tacoma is a viable option. No company is head and shoulders above the rest in this area.
For a full size truck, its a different story. For the weekend warrior who commutes in their pickup the tundra is fine. For hard work and serious loads, you need a real fullsize pickup. The tundra lacks in size, payload, power, and torque. Not to mention the styling is a rip off of the last ford line. Its a nice truck for those who are used to cars and only want the pickup for its status, size, or for the occasional plywood cargo.
