taking out links?

Default taking out links?

how do i take links out of a chain? i just got a new chain and sprockets and the chain is to long how do i take out links?

you just grind the pins flush to the side of the chain and then punch them out.. thats how i have always done it.

or buy a chain breaker, either way works, the chain breaker is very handy.

isnt there a master link somewhere on the chain? or do quads not have those?

Yeah mine has a master link...but I have also had instances where I have had to grind or use a chain breaker. The chain breaker is great, if you watch what you are doing.

pro design chain breaker (rockymountainatv)......I have had mine for years and many bikes,,,,,,handy little tool to have ($25?)

i grind then use the chain break to push out the rest easy 5 minute job.

Yeah it is not hard to do at all just pay attention to make sure you dont take to many links out or somthing, maybe i will buy a chain breaker sounds like somthing good to have.

Many of the stock atvs do not come with a masterlink in the chain.

dont you have to grind the pin and then punch it out with a chain breaker.
