hi looking for some ideas my kfx needs tires whats a good all around trail tire? i ride mostly trails some muddy stock is 20rear 22ft is it worth going up a size to 22r 23ft thanks

 

Well if you do alot of riding where you hit your swingarm skid,then going up on the tire sizes are not a bad idea.On the tires i would go either holeshot or razr's.

 

I would say holeshots. If you don't have any bottoming out issues then go with the 20"HD rear & 22"HD front. But if you need more clearance then go 22"XCT rear & 23"HD front. You will need to drop a tooth on the front sprocket to bring the gearing back to near stock. I ride 99% trails and track and I have run most tires out there and the holeshots work the best.

 

are there a lot of rocks on the trails you ride? If so look for some 6 ply tires. I bought 6 ply maxis razrs for my 400ex because I noticed most of the quads I saw riding trails in the ozark mountains were running these (those of you who've been to chadwick know what I mean, lots of rocks!) So far they work good.

Most of the guys who run mx track seem to like holeshots, dont know how they hold up in rocks.

i dropped to a 12 in the front and like it just fine (raptor)

 

i would like to go down to 12 with the 22s but i havent seen any just 13 14

 

what size is stock on a kfx?

raptor is 13,,,so i went down 1 tooth

isnt the kfx 14?

 

14 is stock i like the extra low end the 13 gives me now with 20s so 12 on 22s would be the perfect set up for me
