i currently ride a 84 honda odessey which is alot of fun but i want a quad... i love to ride trails and i love to ride fast but i would still lik to b able to go in the mud... i want a high end quad wat should i get? i'/ve been thinkinu about the z400, raptor 660, and kfx700... i planb on modifiing the quad alot to include tires wheel exhaust winch and much more please leave your opinions... i do not want a utility 4wheeler

 

also i would lik the 4wheeler to have alot of modification possiblities

 

The Z400 is the best all-around machine out there. The engine hops up really well, when you are ready for more power.

 

Yeah i agree with reconranger, the z400 it is the best out of the quads your looking at. Many mods are available for it, it is great in the woods and has a ton of power. If you want to go in the mud some mud sharks will do the trick. My friend has them on his 400ex and they are sick in the mud, he can get through anything.

 

What makes the Z400 better than the Raptor for an all around quad?

The 700 is a pretty good bike and does good in the mud, trails and for an automatic really gets up and moves. I would say its down fall is if you wanted to do any jumping it sucks. I have the z400 and love everything about it. Before I started racing and putting money into my quad I use to mud it all the time and I never got stuck even in some really nasty stuff. As for the raptor in my opinion I just dont like them and I could give you a list of reasons why but I'm not really up for a debate against every raptor owner on this site.

 

I say get one with 3 wheels...

But if you must - try and ride each of them first. Then decide.

A kfx700 sounds nice - but its quite a beast of a machine.

Many good quads out there now! Why have you eliminated the YFZ, the 450R and the Predator? All three of these are faster than the z400. I can understand not wanting the DS650 for the trails.
And I agree the little z400 is a great machine, just lacks the power of the bigger bores.
I agree the 450R does not have reverse nor electric start but kick starts easily.
I agree the YFZ is more of a race quad than trail machine, but it is the fastest.
You should consider the Predator for sure. Many consider the 05 Predator the best all around trail quad, including Dirt Wheels.
And the Raptor was rated second. I prefer the Predator....JMO.

Mods available for all these quads.

They're all good. Just try to get a ride on them before you buy. Have fun!
