Raptor reliability
#1
Hey I was wondering how the quality and the reliability on the raptor rates against the z400/400ex/kfx400. Does the Raptor have any known weak aspects. Also, will adding spacers to the Raptor for better handling affect or weaken any parts? Thanks.

Raptor's one way bearing is weak, at least up till 04 and some have had problems since as well. Other than that, pretty solid. Poorer handling compared to the 400's, but does nice for recreation when widened.
Wheel spacers on just about any atv will make the axle weak, and since the raptor axle isnt the strongest to begin with its not the best idea. I'm pretty sure I answered this question somewhere recently.

yea if you are going to get one dont get a 01 model because they had tranny probs real bad but like maddog56 said it has sorry handling i figured if you put some aftermarket shock and some longer a-arms it will help.

Both of the 2 Raptors mentioned above have extremely bent axles......and are brand new 2005 models. Granted, 2 compared to all production isn't alot......but when its 2, in a small town, within 1 mile of eachother with the exact same problem....well, you get the picture.

No probs since day one.

OK, forgot about the "carb boot issue" but that was only after I had messed with the airbox myself. Cost of repair? $2.95 at the Hardware store for radiator hose clamps.
