i really like the 440ex and the DS 650 how reliable are they mainly the DS i dont know to much about the DS

Not many people have owned all of the quads simultaneously to get an accurate comparison, but most will agree that they are all good machines in some way. Not sure where to start because they are all very different and have good and bad things. Reliability is all about who is riding and maintaining it. A stock quad that is maintained by the book will nealy last a lifetime. Alot of your desision will depend on what you plan to do with it and how big you are. For big people the DS is nice in really open riding areas. It's stable, reasonably quick, and has a fast overall top speed. Not the best handling in tight areas. For more of a woods quad but still big and comfortable similar to the DS the Raptor 660 or the new Raptor 700 would be ideal. The 250r is a great quad but a little outdated and a little bit on the small side. The Z is a good all around quad for different types of riding and unless money is a huge issue don't waste your time with the EX. It's a great machine and very reliable, but even a beginner would get bored after a year.

 

well i am 5'7 and about 123 pounds but i can handle alot i need more power my 250x is pretty powerful for its size and i have done all the motor work to it my self and it ties with the 400's(stock) in drag and trails in trails i will beat the stock 400's just b/c my bike is eo much extended i was mainly looking for a big upgrade bike i race mx and also do alot of trail riding but i need something im not going to half to work on everytime i get back 2 the house so alot of reliability and alot of power i like the DS but dont know about the problems they have or anything also why not the 440ex there pretty fast and reliable. or the 440z or the stockz how are they also? im looking to spend about 3500 to 4000 on the bike so what am i looking at in my price range? the bike will half to be used obviosly.

 

well if you really meant the 440 ex and z then i would say the ones without the motor work. as far as im concerned the minute you open up a motor it becomes less reliable.

 

oh ok well what do you think is the best choice for me then stock wise for my price range all stock except for a pipe carb air filter nerf bars little stuff like that..

i think for all around performance you cant beat the Z . just recently i drove one for the first time on some knarly trails and it was awsome. as for the ds ive heard only good things about them except the electric fan on the cooler but i dont think they are all that important or expensive. but they are big and bulky but ride like a caddi. i would defintatly go wid the Z
