Default sprocket question?

Ok, Im talking about the small front one. Mine wobbles and can be pushed in and out. My chain also wbbles and vibrates near it on the bottom of the chain travel. Would the sprocket problem cause this vibration of the chain, and if not what would.

Also, how do you take one of these sprockets off. My maitanance book doesnt tell. This bike a 1987 honda trx 250x fourtrax.

Thanks

Mike

If I remember correct, the 250x sproket will be losse on the shaft. There should be a clip with 2 bolts holding the sproket onto the shaft. Your chain should have about 1 in of play (up and down) movement in the center area between the front and rear sproket. If there is more you need to agust your chain. Your book will show you how to do this.

Default sprocket question?

ok, well there is a problem i forgot to mention. The book says that there are 2 lockbolts to lossen and then turn the dial with a hex wrench. Number one problem, there are no lock bolts to loosen. 2nd problem, the part where the hex wrench is stripped from the people before. SO how do I turn the dials if they are stripped?

Not sure about what you are talking about. I am guessing that you are talking about the rear end not the sproket. On the rear end there are 2or4 (not sure on the x) allen bolts that need to be loosen up. If the holes are rounded out you need to get them out some way and get new ones. You can get them at any hardware store or dealers. The thing that you are calling the dial is the edge of the bearing carrier. Find something that fits in the slot and then rotate it backwards to tigthen up the chain.

I got it yesterday, I bought a round vice grip and got at it, this stopped the problem and my bike is in the best condition i have seen it in. I also have my new knarlys on there.
