Is a YFZ too much for me?

I wont bore you all with the details, but it was suggested to me by someone the other day that I dont have the ability to ride a YFZ.
Heres some details about me and my experience.
Im not a new rider, Ive ridden ATVs for the past 10 years (off and on) and I used to own a Polaris Scrambler 500 4x4. I ended up selling the Scrambler because I got bored with the power.
I also have 13 years of experience riding snowmobiles. I currently own a 120 hp, 480 pound snowmobile and Im kind of getting bored with its power and performance as well.
Ive also ridden various personal watercraft ranging from 90 hp to 120 hp.
Also, Ive ridden a few motorcycles in my day ranging from Harley Dynas to a Yamaha 600R crotchrocket.
So all, what do you think? Do I have the skills to adapt to the power of a YFZ? I think I do, once I master clutching and shifting it wont be a big deal.
Ive ridden my brother's '04 Predator TLD and while its a fast quad, its nothing that I havent been able to handle.
I plan on getting back into ATVing and once I feel comfortable with clutching and shifting Id like to get into racing. Nothing crazy, just drag racing, and ice racing as well as the occasional trail ride.

While the YFZ is not slow(with your past experience)you shouldn't have any problems getting use to the 450.Although I prefer my banshee,I have rode a few 450's.They have respectable power(yamaha and honda).I think you'll like it.

Any quad you ride if you push the limits of your abilities, it will get you in trouble or hurt. I would think that with the riding you have done, and the experience you have had, you know what you abilities and comfort level are. I wouldn't think a YFZ is more than you can handle, expecially if you take some time to get used to it...like you said.
My wife has not ridden in a long time, and she took my Preddy out for a spin. She never got it out of second gear because that's where she was comfortable at the time. I did dare her to goose it one time...see pic 12 on my pic page, it's a beautiful thing...LOL

LOL...Nice pic. I think I can handle a YFZ without too much trouble and I figure that if Im going to get into ATV racing I might as well buy a quad that was built for it.
Thanks again.

Dude, unless since the time you had all these toys you've turned into a retarded midget with 1 good eye, I'd say you'd be fine. I had barely ridden in the last ten years. I hopped on a friends yfz and had to get a new 4 stroke (My lt250r was on it's way at the time)
By the way, I have no intentions of offending any retarded midgets with only 1 good eye. Sorry if I have.
Sounds like maybe your friend doesn't want you to have a faster quad. When I told my brother I was going to get a z, he sold his 400ex and bought a yfz.

LOL....Well, the guy who told me I cant handle a YFZ used to own a 400EX but he blew the motor up. He then sold the 400EX and used the money he got to buy a Honda CRF50F (yeah, a kiddie bike).
Honestly, I think the guy is just jelous because he cant afford one.
A group of us are forming a race team. 2 of the guys have TRX450Rs, another has a YZ250F and 2 other guys are getting YFZs next spring, and of course Im getting a YFZ either this spring or the next. We are going to race the local ATV racing circuit once we get the team going and I think that maybe the guy who told me I cant handle a YFZ is a little bit jelous because we are doing what he wishes he could afford to do.
Im not saying that Im going to set the world on fire and dominate the competition, but I will make a respectable showing once I get clutching and shifting down and once I discover what my limits as well as the limits of the YFZ are.
I hope I dont sound like I think Im going to be some kind of hotshot ATV racer. Im just a guy who has been tearing it up on snowmobiles for the past 13 years and because of low-snow winters (in southern Wisconsin) is looking for a sport with a longer riding season. Ive attended a few local ATV races and I had an absolute blast and now Im looking into getting into racing myself.
Dont get me wrong, lending support to my friends when they race is fun but nothing could compare to competing aganst them.
