New Age Blaster 250F
#1
Check this out. A friend of mine just finished a custom quad that Yamaha should take a look at! He took his 05' blaster and stuffed the engine out of a YZ250F in it! Then he topped it off with douglas .190's some Razer 11's, +2 swingarm, wheel spacers, & works shox. He calls it his YFZ250 and even has new stickers he had a lettering place make for him.
We watched him ride it for the first time today and it is fast as hell. He beat his brothers Z400 (stock) by two quad lengths in about a 100 yard drag. He could pull some sick *** wheelies on it. We plan to do a radar test tom. to get a top speed. I WANT ONE!

That sounds sweet.
We may see something like it for 07. This is the last year of the Blaster but it has sold very well for Yamaha in the last 18 years. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw something like that next year.

we might see something like it, but i would put money on it not being two-stroke, the epa is cracking down on the atv and motorcycle companies, so don't get your hopes up on a two-stroke powered blaster, it will be missed.

The YZ250F is a 4-stroke for those of you who didnt know. It is the little brother to the YZ450F. (the mx bike that they stole the YFZ engine from) We just got a top speed thanks to the county cop that lives close by. 69 mph on hard level dirt road & the best thing about it is the top speed is the same at 100yards & 1 mile. I am trying to get him to regear for more top speed but he loves his holeshot so it wont be happening. Pretty stout for a 250 four stroke I think.

I wanted to add that this thing will KILL a stock Blaster. Before the custom work it didnt stand a chance with his brother's Z400, now it kills it. He did some fine tuning last night and ran the 100yards with the Z this morning & smoked it. I got to throw a leg over it for a while and it is light & fun as hell. The funnest quad I have ridden in a while.

if they build one like the 250ex they should have their ***'s kicked, the 250ex was never a huge hit so i doubt that a yamaha version would be either. but it would be awsome to see something like that come out yamaha.

You're not going to see a 250f engine in a quad from the factory. Two things to consider, one is the added weight of a quad is enough to make the 250f engine not seem so wild. The 250f engine in a dirt bike engine is already pretty much maxed out performance wise, add another 100 pounds of a quad and it isn't as radical.
And a big factor, is the reliability. The 250f's require a LOT of maintnance and they do not last long, needing frequent top end replacement, including valves and valve springs, something typical quad riders don't typically want to deal with since they are a ticking time bomb. Heck, a lot of serious MX racers don't want to deal with it.
Quad riders typically want big power, so why settle for a 250, when for about another 1000 bucks you can have a 450?
And I doubt the 250f/Blaster quad is topping out at 69mph considering the fact that the dirtbike version doesn't even top out that fast. Unless of course it is geared tall.
