Default graphite for chain lube

Can anyone tell me if graphite (the erasol type in a can) could be used on a o ring chain?

I tried a search but no luck.(I 'm not sure if I spelled "graphite" properly).

I've never heard of it before, just a brain wave I had.

It'll probably fling right off, it's a real thin lube like wd-40, right? I use an o-ring chain specific lube, it's thick and sticky so once it gets on there it doesnt fling off, and there's no possibility of it damaging your rings.

I've always read that all you need with an o-ring chain is a rust preventative since lubricant is sealed inside the chain. I also use WD-40.

Graphite(yes, you spelled it OK) tends to turn into a sludgy mess when it gets wet. Probably not the best solution for an off road chain. I use whatever chain lube is cheap and apply it before ridiing. Before putting her to bed for the night I'll spray it up with some WD-40.
