Big difference. Others will reply with further info after mine with better info.

The only thing I can ask is "Why are you not considering one of the 450s by Yamaha, Honda, or Suzuki instead of the Z400"? They will be much closer to the Banshee perfomance wise in stock form than the Z will be.

It's kind of like asking which one, Corvette or 6 cylinder Mustang? See what I'm saying? Both sports cars but everthing else changes after that.

First tell us what type of riding you plan to do, what machines if any your friends have, and what you expect out of the machine.

Someone has been licking the toilet mints again! The Banshee's main drawback is that the frame and suspension were designed in the eighties. You will be riding one heckuva motor on a 20 year old chassis. Dunes and fireroads are probably the best place to use one though. The Z is going to have problems keeping up with some of the other quads on the top end, but has everything you need for trailriding. It will handle better and has better suspension for jumping and such. There is a certain cool factor and some mystique surrounding the Banshee though. The wail of the 2 stroke twin causes an immediate adrenaline dump for those that have owned one.

i have no intentions of buying brand new... too expensive for me lol and i want that wail that it has too, i think the 450's probly have more high-end stuff than what i need.
