The 700 if you ride trails. The 450 if you ride track or more open country.

Personally, I don't like the ergonomics of the 700. It is still kind of narrow and carries its weight a little high in the frame for my taste. On the other hand, the 450 is is light and has a very "planted" feel, and razor sharp steering (kind of has a Blaster on steriods feel).

700 has soft, often mushy suspension. The 450 has kind of harsh, tuned for big hits on the track suspension. No happy medium with either of these machines....

....and it's good to post questions like this somewhere besides the manufacturer's forum! You will get a less biased opinion in a general forum, because you won't be getting those who own the machines and are trying to defend them because they don't want to look like fools for buying one....

I have ridden both these machines quite a bit, just for the record....

I have both in my garage and for the most part i agree with most of what Reconranger said.

Only real disagreement is that the 700 feels narrow. I dont get this feeling at all and with the addition of 450 shocks to my raptor it actually sits a little wider than the 450.

All the 08 Raptors come with the Piggy back front shocks witch eliminate alot of the mushy suspention of the old standard front shocks of the raptor. It will still have alot softer ride than the 450 and this can be good or bad just depending on what you are looking for.

Erogomics should play a big part in a quad for anyone but the thing is everyone is different. Only you can sit on a quad and say as to which one feels better to you.

I personally like the feel of the 700 better but that doesnt make it better. It just makes it a better fit for me.

As far as performance they are pretty close to each other they just make there power differently. The 700 falls off around 6500rpm where as the 450 is just getting started there. The 700 has lots more torque which is nice in the trails.

I think the happy medium that reconranger says isnt there (which I agree) comes with a Raptor with a little suspention help if all around rider. If a track rider diffently go with a 450.

I am a 700r owner so i might be a little bias but i love it. rode 450s and there great and everything but i love the take off on the 700 also when i was racing the drags at glammis i took my buddy 450 and when i got it to the top of 5th it seemed to want to get speed wabbles.
