raptor 350

Thanks in advance for your help.
I am looking for a sport quad for my son. 5'10" and @150 lbs and 16 years old. He has been riding since he was 7 years old. We are looking for a non racing sport quad. The 3 that seem to come up are the Honda 400 ex / Suzuki LT 400 / Yamaha Raptor 350.
The sales guy told me the Raptor 350 is way down on power compared to the other two I mentioned. Has anyone ridden the Raptor 350 and either of the other two? I can't beleive it can be that much of a power difference. The Raptor is also about $1500.00 cheaper new that the other two.
We trail ride and I want something very very reliable and maintenance free. I know the Honda and the Suzuki are but I have not been able to find out much about the 350 Raptor.
Thanks for and help.

The Raptor has an ancient (but reliable), heavy very old school motor. I was riding a Warrior with that same motor before you son was born....I would skip this one!!
Both the EX and Z are absolutely superb machines. The Z likes to rev and is faster than the EX by quite a bit. The EX on the other hand has more low end grunt...so I prefer the EX for tight trail riding.
My son is 14 and over 6' now, and way to big for his 250EX. I was going to step him up to the 400EX, but he says he would rather have a Jeep. I think for safety reasons I would rather go with the Jeep than a Rhino.....
