Raptor 700 v.s Honda TRX 450

both are very fast machines. the 450 has efi also and keeps up with a stock 700. if it has a pipe and chip, you could beat it. what it comes down to is weight, yea the 700cc engine is huge, but is like 450 lbs. so really, both machines are great, but i would reccomend the 450,

....no it doesn't!
Personally I'd go with the Raptor 700 if you have tighter, more technical trails, and if you trails are more open and are fairly fast then I'd stick with the 450...
On the trails at my cottage, my 50" wide LTR450 has no problems, I never really have to slip the clutch so it is a perfect bike for me up there.

well idk i cant say that the 700 is faster than than trx but i know its not faster than the yfz in a drag race although when the incline changes for instance in the dunes racing up hill the raptor does start to strut its big bore engine and catch up. and im not by anymeans saying the raptor 700 is slow i like it a lot but i would say on average they are about a half length to a lenght behind a yfz in a flat out drag

Those two bikes are great, you wont go wrong either way.. to many it's personal preference, brand loyalty or simply riding habits... i would pick the 700r if you're not doing track. all around bike with lots of "huevos"

Well, this is going to make twice in one night that I'm going to give the nod to the 700R.
Just buy it and sink some money into aftermarket suspension, even if it is a revalve/respring.... something to get the ride height DOWWWN!!!
That's what I had in mind for it when I was considering it, and since passing on it, I have seen some GNCC / XC 700R's set up this way and I know they have to be awesome in the trails.
The 700R is a beast, and shows it's displacement in the hillclimbs.
It's also freakin fast in a drag.
Not unreal quick... but quick AND run you down in the distance fast.
The drags have to be short for a 450 to win, and I don't know that a TRX would still have anything for it there.
A 450 would have to be built up big and pulling taller gearing really well to stay out front.
Like I will give you an example... I had a YFZ450, serious build, that was too much for the woods and trails really, and it would really blow out a 700R in the mid range... but on out at 5th gear pinned, the 700R would run me down and pass me.
Another is, that a buddy of mine has a FORTUNE in his TRX... and can run down and blow by a 700R with a good head start in a short distance, but run far enough and it will pass him back. Probably about the same thing with my Sport 400, because I run right with him.
700R's start topping out about 75 mph stock and are not slugs getting or staying there... and that's dang fast for stock.
Great trail bike, and probably a great XC/GNCC/Desert Endurance type bike too... and I read they are great in sand, but don't know a thing about that stuff.
But to race head to head, corner to corner, and through the corners with a 450 on a track or woods course.... it think one would be at a disadvantage, especially early on with fresh riders.
