question about450r

I really think that the shootouts are kinda bein mis understood. First of they arent always the most accurate. But what is bein said is in their opinion its not as good as the others. Could all be opinion. But none of them are bad. They are all nice quads. I dont think you can go wrong top to bottom.

My buddy has the KFX, so I have ridden it quite a bit. Lots of sadle time on the YFZ as well, and of course my Honda 450R.
Like has been said, all the 450's have their different strong points. Dirt Wheels recently did a 450 shootout, but really it was more of a comparison than a "shootout"....and there really wasn't a clear "winner".
The KFX gets dissed because it is so corked up in stock form. I am not real familiar with mods for this machine, but it should have tons of hop-up potential. I like that it lugs a bit better than the other 450's, so I would probably pick it for a trail quad....if I ever had to give up my 400EX.

I think the mags are generally more harsh on the newest machines because they want to see improvements.
Dirt Wheels rips apart the new Outlaw 525s in the latest issue, basically says it was falling apart during their test. But that info will get back to Polaris and they will make improvements for next year (well sometimes) and make the machine better.....
All the new machines are so good now.... none of the factories are making crap and trying to pass it off on an unsuspecting public. You buy what you like and you will probably be happy with it.
Of course the KFX might not match beat a 450r or YFZ on a magazine shootout.... those machines have several years of development and refinement on their side. Yamaha has spent a lot of years making the YFZ better, and a lot of years making sport machines in general. They were the only ones with a sport machine of any kind for nearly 10 years at one point....
Kawasaki just got back into the sport market, it's been a LONG time since the Tecate-4, and that machine only lived a couple years.......Even the Mojave was developed and then forgotten for the most part, they gave it some new colors but they never refined it......... naturally the KFX will get better. They now have a full blown race team to match up with the others and they will put what they learn on the track into the dealers...
It really has become like cars in a way now..... some people like Ford, some Chevy or Nissan or Toyota etc....etc..... they are good it just matters what you are looking for and what your feel good riding in..... or in the case of ATVs riding on.....
