raptor 700r or 450
#1
Im looking to get a new atv. Im looking at the following, raptor 700r, kfx450, and the ltr450.
Im was only looking at getting a fuel injected one.
Which one is the best overall?
also performance and speed wise?

What do you want to do with it? Trails, track, racing, mx, xc...? The LTR450 is best stock for mx, the KFX450 would be better for xc riding, Raptor would be best for all-round riding out those three...but worse for mx. The 450's will rev a lot more, but that means more clutch work in general trail riding.
Need some more info on how you ride.

I have ridden the Raptor and the KFX quite a bit, but not the LTR so I won't comment on it (might be to wide for trails though?). If you are stuck on fuel injection, the Honda 450 may get it this year (???), but the YFZ did not.
I find the Raptor 700 to be kind of quirkey. Its ergonomics just don't agree with me. It also carries its weight a little high in the frame. I wouldn't exactly call it tippsy (like the Raptor 660 absolutely was!), but it sure isn't low and stable either. Folks fall in love with that torquey bottom end, but it falls off the powercurve kind of early compared to the 450's.
The beauty of the 450's is the very favorable power/weight ratio! The KFX450 is ok, and among the 450's it has the most luggable engine, so I don't mind it for trails as much as the others. I do like that it has kind of quick razor sharp steering.

If you want a 450, and ride in open areas, then why not expand your options. The LTR is great stock at mx, or open areas with smoother surfaces. The 50" width and tiny little mx tires just don't work well on tight trails and rougher terrain.
If you ride a lot of pavement, and smoother areas, then the LTR probably will do fine. Another 450 with EFI is the DS450, its supposed to have great topend...not so much lowend.
